Description:
The Tax Analyst II performs the analysis, research, and interpretation of state income tax rules and regulations and works directly with a Software Developer to implement any necessary updates and enhancements within the suite of products. This position includes responsibility for evaluating state tax forms and guidance, updating forms and worksheets, testing and debugging supported applications, and reviewing and responding to customer-reported issues.

Requirements:PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Manage the design and development of assigned state income tax products.
· Analyze income tax forms and instructions from the taxing authorities to make changes.
· Maintain consistency and uniform functionality in form and worksheet design.
· Perform research, interpretation, and analysis of tax rules and regulations.
· Coordinate the update and testing process for state income tax modules.
· Obtain electronic filing approvals for assigned state entities.
· Test tax calculations to find errors in the logic for quality assurance (QA).
· Coordinate product release schedules with Management, Development Team, and QA to ensure on-time release.
· Monitor the Customer Support System for related issues and make recommendations for enhancement and resolution.
· Work closely with the assigned developer to support and maintain products based on e-file requirements and mandates within the determined release timeline.
· Identify and implement any needed diagnostics for minimizing e-file rejections or return preparation errors.
· Stay current with state tax laws and regulations, as well as with different program functionalities.
· Provide assistance and guidance to entry level Tax Analysts.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business-related field with a particular emphasis in Tax or Accounting (or comparable major)
· CPA or EA preferred
· 3+ years’ tax software development industry experience or comparable public accounting experience in tax compliance.
· Knowledge of tax research products and techniques
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
· Strong customer service skills to respond to inquiries and complaints
· Possesses excellent attention to detail and flexibility to meet tight deadlines
· Self-directed and highly motivated
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment
· Good decision making skills
· Can work independently and as a team player while maintaining positive attitude
